INDONESIAN TRADITIONAL DANCE (EAST JAVA)

Here are some traditional dances from East Java:


1. Reog Ponorogo Traditional Dance

Reog dance is a traditional dance originating from Ponorogo. This dance is usually played by 6-8 men and 6-8 women. Historically, this dance is taken from the journey of King Kelana Sewandana who is looking for an idol of his heart.

2.Gandrung Traditional Dance


Gandrung dance is a dance that comes from Banyuwangi. The word gandrung symbolizes the title for Dewi Sri. This dance has the same genre as tap dance tilu. Historically, this dance appeared at the time of the construction of the capital city of Balambangan.

The costumes used in this dance are the velvet outfit, along with the accessories. The head section uses a crown called omprok. And for the legs use side batik. The musical accompaniment in this dance is a kempul or gong.


3. Wayang Topeng Traditional Dance


Wayang Topeng dance is a traditional dance originating from Malang. Called mask puppet dance because dancers use a mask at the time of dancing. At first puppet dance mask is only shown for ritual events only. The musical accompaniment of this dance is bonang, gamelan, kendang, and gong.


4. Jaranan Buto Traditional Dance


Buto jaranan dance is a traditional dance originated from Banyuwangi. This dance is played by 16-20 people. In the beginning this dance was performed for circumcision and marriage ceremonies. 5. Remo Traditional Dance

6. Glipang Traditional Dance

7. Beskalan traditional Dance

Musical instruments accompaniment in this dance is kendang, jidor, sinden, and others.
